Voltage refers to the electric pressure and the sound composition deals with the ongoing tension between natural and human-created artificial structures, comments on the exchange of the energies. The listeners are guided through the journey of natural pervasive force, which is challenged for its survival within constantly shrinking space, escalating the urgency of our concern. The creative concept of sound composition Xiao experiments with human voice, the ultimate melodic instrument able to capture instantaneous emotions and thus to translate feelings into sound, and with transcendental Whistling, a Taoist method that creates a connection between whistling and the basic elements of nature, targeting specific body organs through sound and movement. The interpretation of these specific human expressions is further analysed and reinterpreted in the digital realm by AI algorithms, through deep neural networks. Reworked samples will be mixed with the instrumental part, improvisation with electricity currents running through the semi-modular hardware synthesisers Moog Matriarch and Grandmother, the sound explores the possibilities of the human and the artificial, the organic and inorganic, to merge into a new form of coexistence. The soundtrack resonates and revisits internal emotional states, melting the tension stored in old memories and traumas, and brings healing experience through grounding the energy through the dance movements.

VOLTAGE 2.0 is an audiovisual performance based on the premises of deep ecology and ecofeminism. A collaboration of Berlin based art director and musician Akkamiau, dancers and choreographers Marlene Kahl and Sevgim Canay Doertyol from collapsetofraction, visual artist Jana Francova and dancers and choreographers Marketa Kuttnerova, Magdalena Junkova and Jolana Sturmova from Czech republic. With a special opening and closing ritual by Sarah Martinus.
Voltage refers to the electric pressure, to the difference in electric potential between two points, defined as the work needed to bring a charge from one location to another. Our piece deals with the ongoing tension between natural and human-built artificial structures and comments on the exchange of those energies. The dancers in their choreography re-feel and recreate the struggle of organic matter to maintain a life ground in urban and industrial surroundings, expressing the neurotic, disconnected and tensed notions, but also soft, harmonic and peaceful states. The spectator is guided through the journey of natural pervasive force, which is challenged for its survival within constantly shrinking space, escalating the urgency of our concern.

"The Ediacaran biota has particular significance for the history of life as it represents the earliest known assemblage of complex multicellular organisms, with “complex” here referring to organisms that host more than just a few different cell types. The Ediacaran world was a rather peaceful one, largely without conflict and predation. The soft-bodied organisms were a largely immobile form of marine life shaped like discs and tubes, fronds and quilted mattresses. The majority were extremely passive, remaining attached in one spot for their entire lives. Many fed by absorbing chemicals from the water through their outer membranes, rather than actively gathering nutrients. Paleontologists have coined the term "Garden of Ediacara" to convey the peace and tranquility that must have prevailed during this period. But there was a lot of churning going on beneath that apparently serene surface."
My previous compositions Interjections and Kummerang dived into the psychology of trauma and worked within the frame of Buddhist ethics and practice of inner ecology. Ediacaran EP continues this exploratory nurturing of one’s inner landscape, reaching for the holistic and sustainable philosophy of life. In the spring of 2020 covid quarantine ‘allowed’ me to spend all the days in the garden behind our house, where I could pay close attention to the awaking plants, bushes and trees, observe insects, many kinds of birds, mice, squirrels and other furry visitors of our garden and learn their times and habits.
Understanding their behavioral patterns made me adjust my own presence accordingly, in the least possible intervention with their way of existence. My goal was to reestablish a sustainable environment for them, in this small space in between the block of flats in the middle of Berlin. Inspiration for this EP came from reading wonderful book Other Minds: The Octopus, the Sea, and the Deep Origins of Consciousness while sitting in the garden and listening to the improvisations I recorded with semi modular synthesizer Grandmother Moog, analog drum synthesizer Vermona DRM1 MkIII, workstation Korg Kronos and Korg Electribe S1. The peaceful time focused on happenings in this microcosmos in our backyard turned into a wish to revisit the seemingly peaceful world before the Cambrian explosion.

A live quadraphonic sound performance presents a granulated message of vibrational mantras. The vocal parts of the composition originate from narrations of the women who made a choice at a certain point of their life and now they come forward and share their stories. In order to interpret subjective feelings through the music and sound, recorded interviews are granulated into soundbites, revealing and emphasizing the hidden message of emotionally loaded sentences. Speech is transformed into emphatic expression, and substitutes the role of the emotional and cognitive interjections in linguistics with the healing power of the sound. The final composition is devoted to representing the mystical law of simultaneity of cause and effect.

The workshop is for anyone interested in using QUADRAPHONIC SOUND in Ableton Live projects, and particularly suited for sound artists or music producers keen to augment multichannel sound in their practice. The Morning Breaks Into The Night
a tribute mix for 4DSOUND system (Hacklab workshop)
In past months luck brought me to visit and later as well to participate on HackLab workshop in very special spatial sound environment. 4DSOUND system is unique multifunctional space, created by Netherlands company 4DSOUND, collective of artists and developers. In Amsterdam or previously in Berlin (at Atonal festival) we experienced live music performances by artists as Max Cooper, Frank Bretschneider, Robert Lippok with Peter Kirn, Vladislav Delay or Murcof. Their shows had prominent impact on my personal perception of elements of audio in space. This new approach of distribution of sound and noises in the space urges you to look for a new manner of listening, paying completely different attention to what is happening on this air vibration level around you. It stirs the imagination not only from the position of audience, taking you more deeply into music set up, allowing you to interact in a way that you create your very own personal mix as one is free to move around the place with distributed music. The imagination runs full speed on how you could work with sounds and music compositions, visions how to create invisible geometric shapes or paths for sound sources and waves. Obscurity of sound here acquires characteristics of matter. Those hours of swimming in 4DSOUND pool, twisting my head over, from in out and back, I consider as a main inspiration for the selection of this likely ambient wavy mix.
The intent for listener experience is very close ideal perception of the sound in our natural surrounding, where sound encloses us, arriving to our ears and entering our bodies from all different positions, with reverbed breaks and reflexed delays, as we move along.
Sounds in 4DSOUND studio are separately placed within the 3 dimensional grid created of vertical columns, each with omni speakers, arranged on three levels of height (bottom, middle, top) and under elevated platform supported with hidden subwoofers, facing the ground. Further this settings makes the floor material works towards the final effect. Same applies with architecture of buildings where this sound studio is built. Music might be produced live on hardware instruments or software, connected or imported to Ableton Live project with programmed patches. Datas are sent into the engine transforming them into output depicted in 3D model. Sounds can be placed into this dimensional system by written values, manipulated by controllers, touchpad apps or preprogrammed values. Patches allow to set their characters and shapes, as well as their movement inside or outside of defined space. The action of speed motion in time and space is encountered as the fourth level of this three dimensional installation. As this mixture of sound works is wandering around the behavior of vibrations in the spatial environment perceived on the linear time axis, it would be great, hopefully some time in a near future, to hear at least some of the artists included in this mix in that splendid place.
